A Cup of Coffee

I wanted to make this quick post to tell you that I have set up Ko-Fi page. I have seen many other bloggers with Pateron and Ko-Fi pages and have been questioning whether I should make something too. I have been putting off and toiling with the idea for a while now and everyone I spoke to said what have I got to lose. So I finally took the plunge and made a Ko-Fi page for my blog.

I am currently blogging as a hobby right now but I’m very serious about what I make and want to make it part of my career. I am currently a full time university student who cannot afford to work due to health reasons. I work hard and spend hours multiple times a week making these posts on top of university work and I put everything I’ve got into them. I want to expand this blog and want to do it sooner rather than later and that way when I do leave university I will hopefully be able to call blogging  a part of my job.

If you are unfamiliar with Ko-Fi it is a way for people to “buy you a cup of coffee”. Basically if you enjoy what a content creator makes and you want to support them then you can tip them the price of a cup of coffee (£3) in order to support what they do. I do not want to come across as begging or anything as it is a service provided for those who WANT to support others. I do not expect anything from any of you reading this but it is an option if you wish to help support me and my work.

One of my goals is if I do receive support I can use it to expand my blog and upgrade it to one of the plan types. I am currently looking towards the goal of the premium plan but right now that is something for the future.

I made this post to inform you guys of my decision to do this. I don’t expect anything but the option is there if you want it. If you do want to help me out on the odd occasion any and all support is greatly appreciated and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you do not want to then you don’t have to and you can ignore it. I hope you still continue to enjoy and support my content just by reading and commenting.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about posting this but I hope you understand where I am coming from with making this page for my blog.

  • There’s nothing wrong with doing what you feel is best when pursuing your aspirations. 🙂 I’m very similar to you in that I can’t get a traditional job due to health reasons. This is just a different way to make a living and you should’ve feel nervous about it. Besides, there’s always going to be at least one person out there who’ll wanna support you. This gives them an avenue to do that. ✌

  • The thing about Ko-Fi and Patreon is for the most part people don’t have to pay. They can choose to. Patreon is a little different in that patrons get some sort of reward for ongoing support (in theory) but still, you can make it fairly unobtrusive to the blogging experience. Besides, most people get that it takes a lot of time and effort to run a blog.

    • Yeah exactly! The option if there for people if they want it but it isn’t some massive commit people have to make. It’s small and is a choice for people! I think things like Patreon and Ko-Fi are great for content creators!
