So my past two episodes reviews have not been my best work due to life getting in the way (thanks life). Truth be told I have been wondering if I should drop writing episode reviews for this series as I just feel as my content is lacking when I write them. I should point out that I am someone who hates to give up on things but this series might just beat me. Although I am still contemplating about whether to continue writing about each episode I have decided to give this week another go.

This weeks episode gave more information on the law of the world the parasites living. Ideas such as kissing, how the children are constantly controlled and how different Hiro and his group are to the rest is revealed. Kissing is concerning the transferring of fuel and is a necessity of everyone’s life. The parasites seem to be controlled by “Papa” who has not yet appeared and everything in their life is controlled such as their food, sleep, clothing and the environment they live in.

The episode began with a huge ceremony with everyone cheering on the parasites as they have to protect everyone from klaxosaurs while the “kissing” process happens.

The episode leaves this plot point there which I assume will continue in the next episode. The episode then turns its attention to the fact that Zero Two is now moving in with Hiro and his group and no one seems to like that. Its main plot point this episode was the fact that Hiro is becoming sick because of Zero Two as she is feeding off of him like a spider (thank the anime for creating that analogy). Episode 5 also showed the more demonic klaxosaur side of Zero Two which was fun to see. I hope there is more of this!

Hiro is sick with a fever, ends up collapsing and later in the episode is revealed that this huge blue mess is forming on his chest which is horribly painful. Despite that Hiro is still determined as ever to stay in a team with Zero Two and the episode ends with them discussing the fact that Hiro is in pain but he will continue to be Zero Two’s precious darling.

Episode 5 was interesting enough as I found the whole situation with Hiro interesting and am intrigued to see how it develops. I don’t think it was the best episode so far and to begin with I thought the episode would focus on them going out on another mission. I have mixed feelings with this anime at this point. I don’t love it but I certainly don’t hate it. I’m just in the middle about it which is disappointing as I love both Trigger and A1’s work. I just hope the series progresses at a good rate and doesn’t disappoint me in the end.

Thanks for reading and I hope you’re having a great day! Let me know down below if you think I should continue or not! I’m still stuck on the fence about it.

  • Ah, writing up episode reviews is really taxing so I understand if you want to wrap things up. But for what it’s worth, I think you’re doing a good job! Can’t really say this is the easiest series for episode reviews, however.

    • It is! I wanted to challenge myself but it can be really taxing! Thank you I appreciate that! Yes I have come to realise this series is difficult to review and that’s probably one of the reasons why I’m finding it hard! Thanks for commenting!
