30 Day Anime Challenge: Day 1 – There is a First Time for Everything

Day 1- Very First Anime You Watched

I have decided to do the 30 Day Anime Challenge. I have wanted to do this for some time now but I felt now was the best time as I have been stuck in a total rut with my blog lately and cannot seem to get motivated. I thought this might kickstart things back up for me!

The first anime I ever watched might have technically been Pokemon (I also have this very vague, hazy memory of watching Cardcaptor Sakura when I was very young. So hazy in fact that I’m not sure if it is an actual memory or not) but I don’t really count either of those as my first. Simply because I don’t really remember watching them and I never watched any anime regular as a child. Many grew up with Sailor Moon and Naruto but that didn’t happen with me. I only started watching anime when I was about 15. I have always counted my first anime as Black Butler as that was my first experience actually knowing what anime was. I actually read a few volumes of the manga before watching the anime of Black Butler. I remember being so excited to watch it when I found the DVD in HMV one day.

Black Butler has always had a special place in my heart because of this fact and still continues to be a favourite of mine in both anime and manga form. It is a show that I fell completely in love with and helped spark my interest and love of anime. After Black Butler I started to seek out other anime (which is hard when you first start out and don’t know what you’re doing). I have always loved Victorian style settings and clothing as I think it’s an interesting era and this show made me love it that much more. I also love the dub of Black Butler especially J Michael Tatum. Although half of season one and season two are not my favourite in terms of branching off from the original story I still enjoyed them throughly but I love the original story best and I’m glad then anime is now sticking to the original content.

What was your first anime? I’d love to know in the comments down below!

Thanks for reading and I hope you’re having a great day!

  1. My first anime was Pokemon but my first manga was Naruto. I started doing this challenge when I first started my blog but I ended up stopping

  2. I did a 30 day anime challenge a while ago where I put Sonic X as my first anime, but it turns out a Christian kids show called ‘Super Book’ that I liked watching when I was even younger was in fact produced by TV Tokyo. Weird to think that there’s actually a Christian anime out there, right?

  3. I usually say Sailor Moon, though there may have been Astro Boy or similar shows before then. First anime as an adult was either Evangelion, Death Note or Bleach. I never remember what order I got into these.

    1. I’m so sorry for not replying sooner! For some reason this comment was in my spam and I don’t know why!! It’s madness! Anyway thank you for commenting! Cool to this day I have still never seen Sailor Moon, Astro Boy or Evangelion but I do like Blach and Death Note.

  4. Well, I made this challenge not too long ago but I can say it anyway… Sensitive Pornograph. 😇 There was probably something from when I was little but nothing I really paid attention too and I wasn’t a youngster when I started to watch anime. It was more a biproduct of other interests that got stuck. 😎

      1. Be glad you haven’t. Or, maybe sad depending on interest. 😎😇 Uncensored boys love at its finest. Not something most fujoshis/fudanshis starts out with. It made me a very, very rotten fujoshis. Turned before I even knew what boys love and yaoi and a fujoshi was. 😳😎 It’s a wonder really how I managed to get from there to my recently watched Lu over the wall. 🤔
