Nerdy Travels: Anime Heaven and Idol Craziness

We did quite a lot on this day. Our first stop was Sensoji Temple in Asakusa. I visited the temple on my 2017 trip but I wanted to visit again because it’s a beautiful place and I was determined to complete my shrine stamp book. I’d gone into this holiday desperately wanting to complete this book and I’d lost hope about half way through and thought it just wasn’t going to happen. Which in tern would give me the excuse of ‘well I’ll have to come back to finish filling my book’ as some form of excuse to come back to Japan. Fortunately, (but unfortunately for my excuse) I completed my shrine signature book and I couldn’t be happier. I’ll probably do a post about my shrine book at some point in the near future.

After visiting the main temple and shrine we headed to the market/shops which is along the street in front of Sensoji. I bought myself a yukata which will be comfy to laze around in at home. The yukata was really reasonable in price coming to 3,500 yen where as many others start at the 10,000 yen mark.

After finishing up at Sensoji we headed down to Asakusabashi. We headed over to that area for the craft style shops for my parents to browse as I come from a pretty creative household. This area has craft stores dedicated to hobbies such as jewellery making and drawing and painting.

Akihabara was our next big stop for the day. I spent the afternoon wandering around some of my favourite anime stores including Radio Kaikan, AmiAmi, Toranoana, Animate and Hobby Paradise. It’s amazing how quickly time flies in these stores. I could spend forever in Akihabara and never get tired of the place.

I treated myself to a Kanna Kamui figure from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. Whilst browsing in AmiAmi I looked up towards the top shelve and saw her staring at me and I knew I had to have everyone’s favourite dragon loli.

Later, in the evening when everything was closing up for the night we headed down to the Akiba Parms, headed up to the seventh floor to see an idol concert take place. This was my second time experiencing a idol show and we went to see Kamen Joshi. The concert lasted for about two hours and was just as strange but also fun as when I saw it the last time. The girls who performed did an amazing job and it’s crazy how much energy they must have to do so much in those two hour slots. They don’t allow photography of any kind in these events so unfortunately I have no images to share of the crazy experiences which is a shame as I’d love to be able to show the concert to you guys.
