Christmas is quickly approaching and this time of year is the perfect opportunity to grab some blankets, light a candle and snuggle down with some cozy anime. Here are five anime that are super cozy for Christmas.
5. Lucky Star
I know from a first glance Lucky Star may not seem to be a cozy anime series but for me I think it’s perfect for the cozy Christmas season. I find slice of life shows like Lucky Star to be perfect for this time of year. This could be due to the fact that the first time I ever watch this series was over the Christmas holiday a couple of years back (so maybe some bias is lurking in my opinion there). Getting cozy often means I can also switch off my brain and enjoy a series without having to concentrate on the plot and Lucky Star is a show that I can do just that with. It’s ultimately pointless with no plot but is filled with moe cutenesses and shenanigans.
Whilst Barakamon is set in the summer season it’s still a delightfully cozy series nonetheless. As I mentioned with Lucky Star, I find slice of life to often be the most cosiest genre of them all. Handa is exiled by his father to a small island town far from the city and in turn ends up developing so many wholesome connections with the people living there. It’s both beautiful and hilarious to watch and is full of moments that made me genuinely laugh out loud. His friendship with Naru in particular warms my heart. It’s one of my all time favourites and is the best kind of series to kick back and relax with.
3. As Miss Beelzebub Liked It
This anime is so fluffy and I love it! I started this anime a couple of weeks ago after reading the lovely KawaiiPaperPandas’ post on ten reasons why I should be watching it. I understood almost instantly why it was so amazing as the sweet and fluffy vibes were utterly charming. The fact that this happy and cozy series is set in hell and consists of beautifully pastel and wholesome characters who all happen to be demons makes watch things even better. The pastel colours are so easy on the eyes and add another level of sweetness. The romance is truly something else and the overall setting is angelic (ironically). I never knew demons could be so pure and it’s a perfect anime for a cold Christmas night.
2. A Place Further Than the Universe
This anime really surprised me. Although I was pretty excited to check out this series I had no idea what I was in store for. I, as I’m sure many others do, usually associate snow, ice and all things cold with winter and the Christmas season. The idea of four high school girls taking a trip all the way to Antarctica seems beyond crazy and I must say rather preposterous. That being said this anime worked so incredibly well. Puffy jackets, winter hats and the ice-y landscape really brings the cozy atmosphere to life and the storyline is enough to melt your heart.
1. Yuru Camp
Of course I had to put Yuru Camp at number one. It’s the cosiest anime I can possibly think of. A beautifully serine series about a group of girls who go camping near Mount Fuji during the frosty winter season is a perfect snuggly series. As someone who has never experience camping first hand I felt like I got to experience it in the most adorable way from Yuru Camp. The woodland setting along with the lake brings a fuzzy feeling to my heart as although I never camped I did spend a lot of my childhood in the British countryside surrounded by forests and lakes. With or without the nostalgia it’s an amazing show to check out this Christmas.
So, that’s my list of some of my cozy anime recommendations to check out this Christmas. I’d love to know if you guys have any cozy anime series to recommend to me!
Until next time thanks for reading and I hope you’re having a great day!
