Winter 2019: My First Impressions

The winter 2019 season of anime is finally upon us. A whole bunch of different series have finally begun airing and I’m excited for what the new year will bring to us all in the anime community. From what I have checked out so far it has been an interesting mixed bag. I present my first impressions for some of the anime for winter 2019!

The Promised Neverland

I was both hyped and nervous for this anime to begin airing but I can safely say after the first episode I am both excited and impressed with The Promised Neverland. It had a slow but steady build up with the episode which kept me on the edge of my seat. Whilst watching the adorable orphans frolic around playing hide and seek I was just waiting for the true darkness of the series to reveal itself. I’m honestly so excited to see where this series goes and I hope it continues to live up to my expectations!

Boogiepop and Others

When I read the synopsis for Boogiepop on MAL I was excited to see where this horror  anime went. Unfortunately after watching the first two episodes I cannot say I am that impressed with it. So far it has been a confusing mess and I hope that the series will go on to keep my attention or I can see myself loosing interest fast. I’m hoping my first impressions will be wrong and it’ll be a great addition to 2019 but only time will tell.

The first episode of this anime gave me such UzaMaid vibes. I think this will be an entertaining watch for the winter season. It’s very weird and our protagonist Miyako is pretty damn creepy but I think it could make for some lighter entertainment especially amount the more darker series I’m watching this season.

Kaguya-Sama: Love is War

From the first episode I think this anime could be a lot of fun. The three short scenarios presented within episode one were pretty entertaining to watch and I enjoyed watching both Shirogane and Kaguya plot and brainstorm their strategies only to be foiled by something they didn’t see coming. I enjoy the battle of the brains element a lot but I do worry it will get a bit repetitive as time goes on. Even with that in mind I’m still going to give this series the chance it deserves.

Until next time thanks for reading and I hope you’re having a great day!
