Favourite travel destination and why?

If you have followed my blog for a while then you probably already know the answer to this one…it’s Japan. What a surprise! Outside of the U.K. I have only visited two other countries up to now, America and Japan. I have been to Florida in the US numerous times and Japan twice now. I love both destinations dearly but Japan has my heart.

As to the reason why, Japan has a rich culture which you could spend a lifetime appreciating. It has a mixture of old traditions and new and innovative tech which blows my mind. You can go visit an old shrine one minute and then go and buy a new game console the next. Japan is a truly beautiful and unique country and is a clear favourite of mine!

Would you rather give up travelling or give up writing?

This question is honestly so hard to answer. Travel and writing are like my two biggest passions which I want to follow in life. I guess if I had to pick between the two I’d have to give up travelling as writing is my life, it is how I express myself and my thoughts and writing is the main part of the career I’m pursuing.

Beach or mountains?

img_0511

I think I have to go with mountains. I love being surrounded by mountains. I spent most of my school holidays up in the countryside in a caravan my family used to own. The rolling hills, fields sprinkled with fluffy sheep and quiet village towns gives me a warm sense of calm and reminds me of childhood.

What’s your biggest inspiration for your style of writing?

I don’t think I have an inspiration for my writing style. I think I tend to just write how I feel works best for me and I pick up new tips and tricks from other bloggers and literature I read which slowly improves my skills and overall writing style.

If you could give one bit of advice to another blogger what would it be?

The best bit of advice I could give to another blogger is do what you want, when you want when it comes to blogging. When it comes to blogging it works best when you do what makes you happy. Don’t try to please other people as it is best to do what you want to do!

What do you miss the most whilst you’re away from home?

Honestly, my dog. Whenever I go away somewhere without my precious pupper I always miss her dearly. I’ll often see dogs whilst I’m away and fawn over them because of how much I miss my own dog.

Which would you wipe out bed bugs or mosquitos? And why?

Probably mosquitos as I have thankfully never had to deal with bed bugs. Mosquitoes are something I always worry about being bitten by when travelling as they are bloodthirsty little buggers. I think so far I have managed to escape either of the nasty creatures but yeah mosquitoes because they are just really nasty and mean.

If you had to live somewhere for the rest of your life where would it be?

Although I love England i think if I had to choose another country to live in then I would probably choose Japan. That way I can go anime shopping and buy all the new merch without crying over shipping costs.

Hot or cold?

Noragami anime

Cold! I’m from rainy old England and we are accustomed to the cold and go into meltdown when it is hot. I’ve never been one for the hotter climates and my philosophy has always been, you can get cold but warm yourself up again but getting too hot is inescapable. Air conditioning doesn’t really exist in the U.K so that philosophy does apply over here at least.

What’s your sketchiest travel story?

Anime glaring face

Oooooh, this is hard. Considering I haven’t done a crazy amount of travelling I don’t have many sketchy travel stories. I think the one that comes to my mind is during my trip to Japan in 2018. Basically, when we originally booked the trip we decided to stay over for a night in Kyoto as a stop off day between Hiroshima and Hakone. After we booked the hotel we were to stay at the travel agent informed us that they had gone out of business and they had upgraded us to another hotel. Me and my parents were like that’s cool and we were happy to receive an upgrade. We fly to Japan, the trip had been going amazing so far and we finally pull into Kyoto on the Shinkansen. We find the hotel which was across the street from Kyoto station and go to check in, to then find that they had no idea who we were and there was absolutely no reservation there for us. We spent at least a couple of hours trying to get this situation sorted out as we were half way across the world, with nowhere to sleep for the night. I hopped on the WiFi and headed over to the travel agents emergency twitter account in which they provide 24-hour service to customers. I sent them a DM emphasising the fact that we were basically homeless and needed help and waited for a response…WHICH I NEVER GOT! EVEN TO THIS DAY THEY NEVER REPLIED! We did managed to get the issue sorted out and the hotel staff were so lovely and patient with us with the problem. In the end we had to fork out a load of money for the night which we could then get back later with the insurance.

What’s the one saying you live by?

I don’t have a saying in particular but I think something along the lines of: Live for yourself, not someone else and do what makes you happy!

  1. Definitely the mountains… I grew up near the beach, and it’s boring. I now live near mountains and I love the constant interplay of weather and light. (/photographynerd)

    1. Yeah I have spent a lot of time at the beach and I agree, I find the mountains far more interesting and beautiful to look at. UK beaches are pretty dull and grey haha, the mountain scenery is much more photogenic.

  2. Thanks for the tag! 🙂 Gotta agree with you, living in England gets one accustomed to the cold and I agree, it’s easier to warm yourself up but there’s really very little that can be done when it gets hot.
